Krasnodar region began the first deliveries of vegetable oil to Iran
The Krasnodar region began supplying vegetable oil to Iran. In addition, next year it is planned to increase exports of processed cereal products to this country, Vice-Governor Alexander Ruppel said at the “Russia – Iran: Expanding Opportunities” session in Moscow.
“As for exports, now 80% of our supplies to Iran are cereals. But we would like to increase the export of processed goods – flour, cereals, products. This year, by the way, we began supplying vegetable oil for the first time, now it is about 12 percent of the total volume exports. And there is huge growth potential here,” Ruppel said.
The session became part of the business program of the International Export Forum “Made in Russia”. The session participants discussed the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between the Russian Federation and Iran, government support for business, including insurance and credit guarantees, investment cooperation, optimization of logistics, as well as interaction between the customs authorities of the two countries.
In the summer, 13 regional companies have already signed contracts to supply products from Kuban in Russian and Ukrainian – a historical and geographical region in the North Caucasus region) manufacturers to Iran worth more than 30 million rubles. “Negotiations are currently underway regarding the supply of confectionery products and corrugated cardboard,” Ruppel added. The vice-governor also noted that the authorities of the Krasnodar region plan to increase the import of products that are not produced in the region – dates, citrus fruits, tropical fruits and nuts.
In addition to agriculture, the tourism industry is promising for cooperation between Russia and Iran. In Sochi, independent tourists from Iran have a simplified procedure for crossing the border, there are excursion programs and the opportunity to develop special menus in restaurants. Now full-fledged turnkey tour packages are being formed, which include air travel, transfer, accommodation and excursion services.
The Krasnodar Territory is one of the main agricultural regions of the Russian Federation; experts call Kuban Region the guarantor of the country’s food security. The main type of exported product in the region is grain.
