Aurivo Announces Increased Milk Price for July as Competition Heats Up Among Irish Co-ops
Ireland 22.08.2024 Aurivo, one of Ireland’s leading milk processors, has announced a significant increase in the price it will pay farmers for milk supplied in July. As of August 20, the board of Aurivo confirmed a base milk price of 45.32c/L, inclusive of standard bonuses and VAT. This marks an increase from the 42.82c/L paid in the previous month, which also included a future milk sustainability bonus of 0.524c/L.
In addition to the base price, Aurivo continues to offer a 0.21c/L (excluding VAT) protein bonus for every 0.05% protein achieved above the co-op’s average protein percentage for the month. This incentive is designed to reward farmers who produce higher quality milk, contributing to the overall competitiveness of their milk pool.
Aurivo’s announcement comes in the wake of robust growth in its milk pool, which has expanded by 60% from 2015 to 2023, following the abolition of milk quotas in 2016. This growth reflects the increasing capacity and output of the co-op as it adapts to the evolving demands of the dairy market.
The move by Aurivo follows similar announcements by other Irish co-ops. Tipperary Co-op has also increased its July milk price, raising it by 1.5c/L to 43.5c/L. Meanwhile, Arrabawn confirmed an increase to 45.9c/L for July, up from 43.9c/L in June. Arrabawn’s price includes a 0.5c/L sustainability incentive payment and a 0.75c/L support payment, reflecting a broader trend of incentivizing sustainable practices in dairy farming.
Tirlán, headquartered in Kilkenny, also announced a price increase for July, setting its payment at 44.83c/L, including VAT. This represents an increase of 1.75c/L from the June payment, for creamery milk supplies with standard constituents of 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein. Print
